The reason why I am running for school board is that I believe in South Milwaukee and the heart of South Milwaukee is in it’s school district. The reason why most of us know the people we know in South Milwaukee is that either you went to school together here, you have students who are connected to the other students in their class, where you get to know their parents. South Milwaukee is so connected through our schools, there was an instance we told someone where we lived in South Milwaukee, and this person knew who our neighbors were and the people our neighbors dated in high school! What happens within our schools and the people in our schools impacts our whole city. I want to make sure that our heart here is protected and cared about. I want to make sure our schools are cared about as much as I care about my own students. I push my girls to be the best they can be because I believe in their future. I believe in our students, and I want to make sure it’s the best it can be. I believe in our future. This is why I want to work to build that hope through our school. Through South Milwaukee’s heart.
Why Am I running?
Key Focuses
Focusing on test scores and being able to meet the needs of our teachers, supplying them
with the things they need to boost the test scores of students
Looking at our students in the long term and preparing them for post-secondary and getting
ALL students to see they have a future beyond just high school
Building a culture of togetherness within the school district and out into the community as well.
Finding more ways to create a culture where staff and faculty want to STAY within our district.
Showing our staff that they are valued and supported here.
About Me
Hi, I am Terrence and I am running for the School Board in South Milwaukee. Before you vote on April 7th, I am sure you may want to know something more than my name...that’s probably why you're here. There is a lot of random info I could throw at you, like my favorite thing to eat is steak, I am a huge Marvel fan, or I am originally from Burnsville, MN (please don’t hold that against me). But I believe the most important things you need to know can be cut down to three things;
1. I am a father and husband. I am a father of three girls, yes...3 ages of 13, 10, and 3. Emotions, drama, and tears. I know about it all, but I also know I was meant to be a girl dad. My wife Courtney and I have been married for 15 years, and I am pretty sure my life doesn’t work without her.
2. My whole adult life has been about working with students and education. My four-year degree from college focused on caring for others. For the past 10 years, I have been a motivational speaker speaking at schools across the country. I have worked with school officials and school boards on how to reach their students and helped to come up with ways to make a positive impact on communities.
3. My family is involved here in South Milwaukee. Whether it’s working within the city, volunteering, being on the basketball team or even in one of my daughters’ cases, being on the tech team for productions at the school, my family is an active member of South Milwaukee.
So when you see me out in the community, never be afraid to say hi and talk to me about sports, movies or even Marvel movies (I am a HUGE comic book fan). South Milwaukee is not only the place we live, but the place we call home.
